After nearly 12 years away from blogging, this felt like the perfect moment to share something personal, a beautiful at-home maternity photoshoot in Chennai that I recently had the honor of capturing.

I first connected with Praveen after finishing a photography assignment at a CSK event in Chennai. Praveen, a filmmaker and a friend of Bhagya’s, was looking for a maternity photographer in Chennai to capture this special phase of life with his wife, Abi. What made the shoot even more special was their request to include their pet dog, Star. As a dog lover, I was instantly excited.

We decided to keep the shoot simple and intimate by photographing the session at their home. When Praveen showed me their living room filled with plants, natural light, and thoughtful design elements, I knew it would be the perfect setting for a natural, lifestyle maternity shoot.

Abi wanted the session to feel relaxed and authentic. She wasn’t focused on traditional bump portraits and simply wanted to document this phase of their lives in a natural way. The shoot reflected exactly that quiet moments, soft light, and genuine interactions between the couple and their dog.

During the session, I joked about my unusual track record with maternity shoots the last two clients had gone into labor the very next day. Praveen was shocked and immediately warned Abi to be prepared. This time, though, their baby boy Karna decided to make us wait a week, proving my “magic touch” isn’t always accurate.

This Chennai maternity photoshoot was simple, personal, and full of warmth exactly the kind of session that turns into meaningful memories for years to come.
